A Taste of CHI

| Vancouver, CANADA

Event Website

The ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, the premier international conference of human-computer interaction, is coming to Vancouver in May. CHI 2011 (www.chi2011.org) focuses on leveraging diversity and connecting people, cultures, technologies, experiences, and ideas. Are you curious about the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and want to learn more? Too busy to attend the entire conference? Come check out a "Taste of CHI". Highlights include:

· The Bill Buxton Collection of Interactive Devices (www.chi2011.org/program/buxton.html). First shown at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 2004, the collection documents the history of pen computing, pointing devices, touch technologies, and illustrates the nature of how new technologies emerge.

· “Future of Interfaces” interactive exhibits (http://chi2011.org/program/interactivity.html). State of the art technology exhibits that you can come see, touch, and experience.

· CHI Videos (http://chi2011.org/program/videos.html#). Come see content that leaps off the page: vision videos, reflective pieces, humor, novel interfaces, studies, and anything else that is a good match for the moving image and relevant to HCI. Best videos will be awarded the Golden Mouse award. Free popcorn and drinks.

·  Works-in-progress Posters (http://www.chi2011.org/program/program.html#S5003). Concise posters describing innovative or thought-provoking work relevant to the CHI community. This is a unique opportunity for sharing valuable ideas, providing useful feedback on early-stage work, and fostering discussions and collaborations among colleagues.
